The majority of flights from Bangkok seem to leave around 8am, so you want to be at the airport before 6am, with a 1.5hr drive from Pattaya to the airport, means getting up at or before 4am! No good if you're writing emails until midnight - silliness!
Anyway, our flight was fine, arrived after 16 hours with very little sleep (but lots of movies under our belts!) to our little hotel in Munich and collapsed into bed!

| Got a bit lost and wandered through a nice little park! |
Day one in Munich was fabulous! We started getting a bit lost on the way to the Karlsplatz, thank goodness for map apps rather than guidebook maps of the city which aren't that detailed after all!
We went through a little park that doesn't rate a mention in the guidebooks but it had such pretty flowerbeds of pansies, tulips, daffodils and such - very colourful! Tulips were on sale everywhere in the city, it made me think of you Gem!

We wandered through the city, some sights were under renovation, but the Marienplatz was great with the figurines on the Glockenspiel doing their thing at the 11am show.
 |
| Inner square of the Rathaus |
We stumbled on the inner square of the Rathaus by following a walking tour and got a few nice pics!
We checked out all the food in sale at the stalls of the Virtualienmarkt (victuals market), the white asparagus is in Eason at the moment and it was everywhere! We picked up some juicy strawberries for later.

| Interior of the Asam Kirche, a bit blurry |
We found the Asam Kirche, an incredibly detailed interior, intricate paintings, ornate finishings and marble over everything else.
 |
| The front of the Asam Kirche |
It's wedged in between non-descript shops on a chic shopping road, a discount bakery across the road.
Found an incredible tea house, it puts the shops in Melbourne to shame - the smells were incredible!
 |
| On the way to the Parliament building - I'm on the bridge there! |
 |
| Parliament building |
We wandered onto Maximillian (sp) strasse, to have a squiz at the Bavarian Parliament building and followed the incredibly clear river (you could seethe rocks on the river bed below, compare that to the Yarra!) along to the Frierangel (sp) to take a few pics.

By that time a coffee and cake were in order so we walked back through the art precinct but couldn't find a nice bakery to save ourselves. Continuing on for another while, we passed the Residenz and ended up all the way back at the Marienplatz at a bakery we had seen earlier. Famished, we bought too much, that chocolate brownie of mine was huge and oh so rich!
After a much needed rest we decided on one last trek up to Konigsplatz, a square surrounded by art galleries and then made it back to the hotel for a good rest. 9am till 4pm solid walking, more than our trek to breakfast in Brizzy Ming! Mum was pretty exhausted, so we had an early night.
Day one out!
